Tunbridge Wells has some of the highest council tax rates in the country, and yet its roads are amongst the worse. Potholes are increasing in size, roads are breaking up due to the seemingly unending roadworks and the shoddy work done on them. If Tunbridge Wells Council is to continue to raise its taxes and take money for us, that money should be put back into the roads. At the moment there is road works in Southborough, water works to increase the size of a pipe to allow for bigger increase in demand, it said the road works would take FOUR MONTHS for the work to be carried out, and as a result for the time it has been going on has caused neverending congestion, there has even been reports in the local paper of the workmen being attacked by angry motorists, if these utility and service companies continue to dig up the roads in and around Tunbridge Wells then they should make the quality of the work a LOT higher, so after the hole has been filled in the new patch or tarmac is actually level with the existing road.
The councial actually needs to be seen to spend its money its getting from its residents, and not think a quick fix of a the odd pothole or two being filled in by council workers is good enough. Roads are the lifeblood of any community and need to be maintained...
