Asda has joined in the big bra battle by introducing a one-price-fits-all model.
The store said it was making the move in response to Marks & Spencer's refusal to axe a £2 surcharge on bras bigger than a DD cup.Asda's brand George unveiled the £4 bra, available in A-F cup sizes, to support "shoppers' wallets as well as their busts".Fiona Lambert, George's brand director, said: "Retailers should put an end once and for all to one of the last prejudices - that of the bigger busted woman."Real women come in all shapes and sizes and so bras at George are exactly the same price from A cup through to F cup.
"No one would dream of charging one price for size seven men's socks and a different price for a man with larger feet, so why should they do the same with ladies that are blessed in the chest department? The big bra debate was re-ignited when angry Beckie Williams bought a share in Marks & Spencers so she could fight the chain's decision to charge more for bigger bras. She is the founder of the Busts 4 Justice web campaign, a Facebook group of 8,000 members calling for change."They won't listen to me as a customer but they might listen to me as a shareholder," she said."You don't do it for other items of clothing so I don't understand the logic."We do go to other shops but M&S have the biggest share in the lingerie market in the country."An M&S spokesman said: "Our bras are much less expensive than many other specialist larger cup size lingerie retailers, where they could cost around £60 or more."
At long long last.......
