Would a "working from home" job suit you?

Have you ever thought of working from home? I went and did a little research, and i think Im glad i took the chance. I agreed with everything i read abt it.

Working from home has many benefits. There’s no need to commute to the office, get out of your dressing gown or deal with difficult colleagues. But this working arrangement is not suited to everyone. It’s best for those who can manage their own time, discipline themselves to get their jobs done and set clear boundaries between work and leisure time.

If you are the type of person who enjoys socialising with colleagues and working as part of a team, then you may find working from home lonely and even uninspiring.

You also need to be realistic about your ability to discipline yourself. With no-one there to check what time you get to your desk in the morning, you may find yourself sleeping in or finding other chores to occupy your time.

On the other hand, setting up a home office is an ideal way for working mums and dads to spend more time with their children and save on childcare costs.

Even though you may not get to spend quality time with your kids while you are working, you can keep en eye on them and be there for them if they need you.

While work from home jobs do allow you more flexibility to focus on other tasks that need to be accomplished, keeping irregular office hours can result in your work creeping into your leisure time.

In order to ensure you manage your tasks effectively, establish a routine by starting and finishing work at the same time each day.

    Hi Erulastiel,

I think id like to sleep in a bit Big Smile i start at 6.30am every morning but at least im done by 2.30pm or so which is not too bad.  I work from home and it has its benefits and it also has its disadvantages, it does get lonely some days, but then i also get a lot of time with my daughter during the day which is nice. Working from home does require discipline as far as a schedule goes, you have to set hours for yourself and make sure everything gets done for the day that you are supposed to get done or else it all just falls behind and you end up overloaded with things.

I cant imagine myself working in an office again as iv been working from home for around 5 years now and it suits me well.

I agree. with kids its the best. I still get time to play with them and do homework with them when they get home, so it works out well. I agree with the discipline tho. its hard to do wot you have to do at work, when your telly is in the same room, or you have garden work youd love to get to, but you can only after work.
