A
story got
me thinking today, while we are quite tight in the recession, are we
still
giving to charities and good causes? Unfortunately a
charity
that helps
homeless people in Kent
is now facing a funding crisis. 66 members of staff have their Kent jobs on
the line as the county council, who contributed £600 000, are going to pull
out.
After a
year of discussion and working with the trust, the council believe that the
standards and issues have not improved. It is their responsibility to spend our
tax payer’s money sensibly and believe that this is no longer the case. In ways
I believe that there are far worse tax money wasting schemes going on in the UK. Although I
do not know the exact problems, is this charity a waste of our money?
From what I
hear charities are not receiving the funding they once were, and understandably
at a time like this. Would you be happy to know that a small portion of your
tax is going towards good causes?
