    Graham Coxon at The Forum

After weeks of waiting the chance to see Graham Coxon was finally here, after a few pre gig drinks we headed down to The Forum. The venue was packed and there was a real buzz to the place, after finding a good spot (next to the bar,as always) we waited for Mr Coxon to take the stage. He came on stage just after 9pm and headed straight for a chair at the front of the stage.

Having heard plenty of his material which is very upbeat and has a great rock edge to it, I and most of the crowd were expecting a lively and rock filled start to the evening. Sadly this didnt happen! as he opened with a slow quiet acostic number which failed to get the crowd going. He continued this trend of slow songs for the next 20 minutes! so everyone was happy when he disposed of his chair and trademark glasses and turned up volume and atmosphere. This gig seemed to be more about his new album 'The Spinning Top' than playing some of his great back catalogue such as the albums 'Happiness in Magazines' and 'The Kiss of Morning'.

Great new material Mr Coxon, but next time your in town PLEASE can we hear some of your older material.

Oh one last thing... I was talking to Mark Morriss from the Bluetones lastnight and he tells me that he will be back at the Forum in November.

I went to the Graham Coxon gig with an open mind as I hadnt heard any of his material before.I was expecting a strong indie guitar set, something you would expect from Blur as thats where he started his career.Unfortunatly it wasnt what I expected as a lot of the set was very much acoustic based and I'm told he didnt play alot of his older material. There was tho a great atmosphere and I really enjoyed my night at the Forum.
    Love's the sun.
